Blue made Zayed swim with shark

As an actor we need to have the ability to act in almost every condition, no matter what the situation is. For Zayed Khan, a well known Bollywood actor, shooting underwater for his next movie called Blue isno’t something new anymore. However, when he had to swim around sharks, that was a very big challenge for him. “Just the idea of swimming around with these unpredictable beasts (sharks) was difficult. We always had our trainers and divers around.”

Blue is an adventure movie that taken in the Bahamas and Thailand. With Anthony D’Souza as the director and starred by  Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif, Blue  is made with Rs.1.29 billion budget.

Not only that, the movie is the first Bollywood movie that have been extensively shot underwater with a screen time of 20-25 minutes and with real sharks, almost 40 in number.

Zayed then applauded the stuntmen, who bravingly accompanied the actors under water and made sure that the shooting goes on smoothly.

“The stuntmen made it look so easy. They have a way of dealing with fear. There were times when they first made me touch the sharks and slowly got me to do the fight sequences. But it was all done very carefully.” Blue which produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd will be aired May 29 next year.

Gulzar and Shaan to spread awareness

I think being a celebrity has many advantages, one of them is people will notice when you do something to spread social awarenss.

Like what Gulzar and Shaan just did. These two famous Bollywood names have joined hands in hands to make a music video to spread awareness about AIDS, especially among youth.

“We certainly expect the music video to get the desired response. The lyrics by Gulzar Sahab are really good and will help in educating people about the disease,” National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) director general K. Sujatha Rao told IANS.

Beside Shaan, who has given his voice for the song, Shantanu Moitra is also shared his part by becoming the  video’s music director.

Produced jointly by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health of the US and NACO, the music video hopes to educate people and dispel stigma about the disease.

Cheeni Kum

Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu are joining hands in hands again in their next project: a film called “The Legend Of Kunal (Cheeni Kum)”. The Legend Of Kunal wiil be directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Amitabh’s company AB Corp Ltd. for Tabu, however, this would be the first film Tabu is signing after R. Balki’s “Cheeni Kum” last year. The director, who became a name to reckon with after directing the television epic “Chankaya”, is determined not to make compromises with history or with his creativity in making “The Legend Of Kunal”.

So, will this new film will be a hit Other Bachan’s movie? let’s wait and see ;)

Ashish Chaudhary in mourning

The recent terrorist attack that took place in the Oberoi Trident Hotel, Tiffin restaurant has took the life of Ashish Chaudhary’s sister Monica Chhabaria and her husband who dined there.

The couple went to the Tiffin restaurant of the hotel, which was among the 10 places the terrorists attacked Wednesday night.

Ashish, who has been waiting for the news  since the Wednesday night for a word on the wellbeing of his sister and her husband had broken down when he came to know that they were brought out of the hotel by security forces Friday.

In fact a report by the security forces said all diners at Tiffin that night were killed in terrorist firing.

About Soni Sood

His EK VIVAAH AISA BHI is slowly but steadily making inroads into audience’s hearts. Meanwhile, Sonu Sood continues to have fond memories about working in the film, especially with the Rajshri setup which made things easy for him on the sets.

‘Barjatyas are not the people who think about expenses’, says Sonu fondly, ‘Every day they would ask me whether I was feeling good and in mood to work. I had to reassure them time and again that I was all in good sprits to work but they would still enquire this with every actor to make sure that they give their best in front of the camera. Now this is so different from some of the other productions I have worked where you are asked to work even with a broken leg.’

Revealing more about his first ever stint with a Rajshri production, Sonu says, ‘On the very first day of my meeting with them, they told me how passionate they are about making films. It seems that this is what they actually live and breath. It is rare and the treatment meted by them is so sweet that you yourself tend to be sweet in return.’

He must be happy though that with EK VIVAAH AISA BHI, he has been accepted as a romantic hero too.

‘Well, in films down South, my lover boy persona was being taken care of’, smiles Sonu, ‘However, what I shy away from is being repetitive films. For me everything has to fall in place, be it the actors I work with, the script, the director. Somehow in Bollywood not many right roles were coming in till JODHAA AKBAR happened. I guess its all destiny and it was nice that I waited for good things to happen. I am glad that I didn’t fall into any image and the result is varied films like JODHAA AKBAR, SINGH IS KINNG, EK VIVAAH AISA BHI and my next release DHOONDTE REH JAAOGE.’

Tusshar Kapoor’s next movie

From playing a mute guy to a married Gujarat man. Now that’s quite some transition for Tusshar Kapoor whose next release would be LIFE PARTNER. Currently stationed at Cape Town, South Africa, where he is shooting for the film, Tusshar talks about what to expect from him in films to come.

“First and foremost I am going to turn a little choosy from here on. Not that I wasn’t choosy earlier on; I never went into a rampage shooting for multiple films at any given point in time. But yes, with the success of GOLMAAL RETURNS, I have to be true to my audience. Every move has to be taken very carefully from here on”, says Tusshar with the sound of success clearly apparent in his voice.

Is LIFE PARTNER one such film where he has ensured that he does have something substantial to offer?

“Absolutely”, says Tusshar in a split second reaction, “The film has a wonderful script by Rumi Jaffrey and he is executing it very well as a director. It is yet again a fun film though with a strong storyline keeping it running smooth. I play a Gujarati married man.”

As per Rumi Jaffrey, who made his directorial debut with GOD TUSSI GREAT HO earlier this year, LIFE PARTNER is not a remake and an absolutely original subject.

Starring Govinda and Fardeen Khan as the other two male leads, this romantic comedy features Genelia D’ Souza and Prachi Desai as the girls. The first Hindi film production ever by Abbas–Mustan and their editor–brother Hussain Burmawala, the film is reaching it’s finishing stages and is all set to release in the first half of 2009.

There’s nothing wrong with Dostana

Karan Johar is going around saying that there’s nothing distasteful or offensive about his production DOSTANA.

The movie directed by his protege Tarun Mansukhani has kicked up a storm thanks to promos which have numerous gay jokes. So much so that it’s being feared that the film may end up offending the gay community. There is a lot of skin show as well, by John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Shilpa Shetty who’s in a special appearance.

But KJo doesn’t feel that there would be any problem.

He has reportedly said, ‘We’ve made sure not to offend any group or community. I’d never make a film that would offend anybody. DOSTANA has a great look and it’s a clean happy watch. It’s fun and new.’

In the movie John and Abhishek Bachchan pretend to be gays to rent an apartment where a sexy girl lives. Things get complicated when they fall for her but she keeps thinking that they are gays.

‘The chemistry among Abhishek, John and Priyanka is unbelievable. It’s not for the first time that I am doing something like this. It’s time for everyone to wake up to reality. I had gay jokes in KAL HO NA HO and no one was offended,’ Concludes Karan.

Madhur Bhandarkar - about fashion

When FASHION was announced, there were talks that it would include actual footage from the Fashion Weeks which happen in Paris. There were also speculations that Priyanka Chopra would be shooting for one of the key sequences on a Paris ramp. However, FASHION has released and there has been no such shoot abroad. What happened?

“It was just not becoming physically possible to shoot in Paris”, says Madhur Bhandarkar in an honest tone, “Even though the team had gone to Paris for a recce, we couldn’t get the logistics working. Moreover, it was a Himalayan task to actually shoot a sequence there on a Live show with Priyanka walking the ramp. We could have somehow managed it but for that we had to wait for a year. Of course, we couldn’t have afforded to do that.”

Some montages could have included in the film though, isn’t it?

“It wasn’t quite possible to go and shoot the whole thing there and we thought that it would be better to rather replicate the setting here in Mumbai itself. We could have got some pre–shot montages but we let it go since we managed to get an authentic job done by the talented crew at our disposal. In any case, the film has been accepted all over and that’s what matters”, shrugs Madhur.

That’s indeed true, what with yet another experimental film of his getting critical as well as commercial acclaim.

“Well, I have always maintained that I am an experimental film maker whose movies also come with commercial viability. This way I am truly blessed”, signs off Madhur.
